NATIONAL AND LOCAL PRO DEMOCRACY GROUPS
What follows is a list of organizations who are doing pro-democracy work on upcoming elections and state and local political initiatives that will significantly impact the 2024 elections.  This is being done by Democrats, Progressives and Republicans who are concerned about the direction the Republican party is moving. All of these organizations have extensive experience, are legitimate and IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME NOW TO VOLUNTEER THROUGH THEM THEY COULD USE YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT.

1– https://swingleft.org/ – “Election Day in Ohio is less than a month away, and with abortion access on the line, we need to reach as many voters as possible and help them make a plan to vote.”

2–  https://314action.org/ – “We WON the September special elections in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. We’re officially ONE MONTH out from (another) New Hampshire special election that will OFFICIALLY tie control of the chamber!”

3–  https://www.mobilize.us/ – “We offer information on: Popular upcoming events nationwide…Organizations active near you…Political  events happening near you…Actions you can  take right now.”

4– https://votefwd.org/ “Together, we’ve adopted nearly 500,000 Virginia and Ohio voters (and that’s on top of the 282K+ letters we sent together ahead of Ohio’s August special election!), and we can reach even more before the end of October if we all keep up the letter writing momentum.”

5– https://fairfight.com/ –  “States recently had to launch their once-a-decade process of redrawing district lines, also known as redistricting. And it opened the door for extremists to further obstruct democracy through racial gerrymandering.

Here’s what that looked like in four states — and here’s where those efforts stand:

Alabama
Twenty seven percent of Alabama’s population is Black, but the state only has one Black member of the U.S. House — representing the one district where Black voters are a majority.

Florida
Governor Ron DeSantis fought for a congressional map designed to eliminate a historically Black district. Pro-voter groups took the plan to court. In early September, a state judge ruled against the new map, and a federal court started hearing the case in late September.

Georgia
Extremist lawmakers enacted congressional and state legislative maps that were specifically designed to weaken Black voting power in particular districts. Black voters and our pro-voter partners filed a lawsuit to challenge these unfair maps, and the case was recently heard in federal court.

Ohio
After two years of redrawing state legislative maps, the Ohio Redistricting Committee voted unanimously in late September to adopt new maps drawn along party lines that will heavily favor Republican extremists. There are three ongoing court cases that challenge the current gerrymandered maps — in part for how they weaken Black political power — and the Ohio Supreme Court has struck down five of the ORC’s proposed maps so far.  We’ll keep an eye on these cases and continue pushing back against attempts to weaken Black political power.”
