I have posted multiple examples why The Greater Good Science Center – https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/
is one of the most valuable research oriented resources available for anybody interested
in having a positive impact. What follows is the beginning of an article that shows how to improve teenage health.
If this idea interests you I encourage you to go to the link above to investigate this fascinating
article and the offerings of the Center. I do not receive any compensation for making this suggestion. I
make it because I love facts and research and have been using the Center for my career work on positive
impact since its creation in 2001.
A new study finds that teens involved in youth programs develop more critical
reflection and take more action to fight injustice and inequality.

“Teenagers in America are inheriting a society rife with social injustice and inequality.
Discrimination, police brutality, high rates of violence, substandard educational
opportunities, and under-resourced communities are among the many barriers
to their future health and happiness.
Understandably, young people may feel their futures look bleak, making them anxious,
depressed, or apathetic. Fortunately, some research suggests that when young people
understand the societal factors affecting them, they are more apt to want to
take action to change things—which, in turn, can empower them and improve their mental health.
Now, a new study suggests that youth organizations have an important role to play
in positive teen development and social justice.”

The focus of my Daily Positive Impact posts is captured in many studies: In the 2016 article, “POSITIVE EMOTIONS AND WELLBEING,” by Marianna Pogosyan, Ph.D. she wrote, “The health benefits of positive emotions is well documented. They improve physical health. With frequent experience and expression of positive emotions comes resilience and resourcefulness.”
I hope, through the publication of positive stories and resources, to energize readers to take their own actions to make our world a better place. If you are already there, thanks!!
Have a healthy and impactful life, Peter Prichard CMF
